Habitat: All along the Atlantic coast, Gulf of Mexico

Availability: Since there isn’t a directed fishery for barrel fish, we only see them sporadcially – let your sales rep know if you’d like a call when they come in.

Flavor Profile: Cooks up tender and moist, with a rich, sweet and distinctive flavor. Great for a variety of applications, but holds up well to pan searing, roasting and grilling.

Fishing Technique: Hook & line

Special Note: Although barrel fish are caught in very deep water (below 3,000 feet) they get their name from their habit of congregating around floating debris – including barrels.
